How To Remove Beach Sand From Natural Hair

Hello guys! Welcome back to my blog! Last week Thursday, I spent the day at Bojo Beach to celebrate my younger brother's birthday . For those that don't live in Ghana, Bojo Beach is located on the Kokrobite Road, at Bortianor, Accra.

Since Bojo Beach is separated from the mainland by the Densu river, we had to cross this natural border via a canoe(we were told they were working on their motor-powered boat).

This alone was an exciting and yet scary moment!
We had so much fun in the sea, making us leave with more than we went with; the extra thing being lots of beach sand!
There was so much sand buried in our hair. Getting the sand out was an extremely difficult task. I had already tried shaking it off, lightly hitting it off with a towel, and even unraveling my braids. I still had sand in my hair. I realized this was a problem that most naturals experienced and no one around me had any idea as to what I was supposed to do so I decided that by researching and writing an article on the topic, I can actually help naturals that always encounter this problem.
The first thing I realized is to avoid getting the sand in your hair. My hair was in braids so it actually minimized the sand that came into contact with my hair. It's always advisable to have your hair in braids, twists, or a puff. You can also wear a hat. If you prefer to sunbathe, it's best to carry an extra towel to lie on and not use it to dry up when you want to swim. You can also avoid putting your hair in the water close to shore since that's where the sand is more easily stirred up.

While in the sea, let your hair float in deep water and use your fingers to loosen the sand. This will cause the sand to drop away from the hair since it's heavier.

If you still have sand in your hair, the first thing to do is to try to shake and brush it off with your hand. Hold your head upside down so that the sand will not land back on your scalp. Shake off as much sand as possible.

Afterwards, rinse your hair thoroughly under the shower or pour several cups of water in different angles to remove the most sand.
You can also wash your hair thoroughly with a clarifying shampoo(I used We Naturals Black Soap with Hemp Oil; it's a Ghanaian brand) in many sections to make sure you remove the sand completely. Several washes may be necessary. Finish up with your conditioner(ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner is what I used) and you're good to go!

The Clutch Bag, A Fashion Necessity Or Not?

Hello guys! Welcome back! This week, I decided that I was going to talk about the clutch bag. Is it really a must have or have we ladies just over exaggerated the importance of owning a clutch simply for its beauty?

To achieve a flawless look for any occasion , it is very important to strike the right balance while accessorizing. What accessory is important on both a functional and fashion level? The Clutch!
A standard clutch is usually large enough to hold some basic necessary items such as credit or debit cards, some cash, driver's license and a mobile phone. They are just the right size for any event, formal or semi formal, and most importantly, do not inhibit the view of the ultimate thing, the outfit!
Clutches are highly fashionable purses which are easy to use, handy and extremely classy. They are also the perfect evening bags.
They help you to look effortlessly stylish.
Since no lady will want to lose their valuables like diamond and gold bracelets and necklaces, the best option is to carry a clutch in order to have your valuable items  with you if need be and not lose them.
Several factors come into place when  selecting the right clutch purse, including size, structure, colour, material and cost.

How To Choose The Best Clutch

1) Choose the right size for your body size.

Clutches come in different sizes and shapes. It's always best for petite ladies to go for smaller or medium sized clutches while bigger women are best complimented by bigger clutches.

2) Never leave your clutch looking bulky

Since the clutch is designed not to take many things, it is important to always pick the right one that can occupy your stuff. A clutch purse looks unfashionable when it's stuffed. You are more likely to destroy the seams of the clutch when it's bulky. The best thing to do is to pick a few items that will be needed while you're out or take a slightly larger clutch.

3) Go for one that can suit your budget

Some clutches are more expensive than others. Unless you're Kim K or Beyoncé, you wouldn't want to spend a whole lot of money on clutches. It's necessary to get a classy clutch, but it doesn't mean you should break a bank before getting one. You should always check your budget before setting out to buy anything; including a clutch.

The Little Things That Bring Down Giants

Hello guys! Welcome back to my blog! I know I'm a little late this week, I apologize for that. Well, last week I read a powerful article on "It's The Little Things That Bring Down Giants!" so I decided I was going to share it with you. It spoke about the great American Chestnut.
Image from Wikisource
This was a highly productive domestic crop. It was the major source of tannin(used in leather preparation), its chestnuts were a commercial crop, its wood was widely used and its leaves were a home remedy! What a crop! Then the unfortunate happened! In 1904, a fungus that begun in New York City, attacked the crop and spread so quickly that within 40 years, it had wiped out this once powerful and abundant specie. Just a little fungus!
This happens a lot in life. So many people tend to take a lot of 'little things' for granted so much and when the great harm is done, they are left with virtually nothing! It happens in relationships, businesses, and even normal day activities! This is the more reason why marriage counselors stress on the 'little things', business consultants and advisors, electricians, plumbers, doctors all do same too.
The Bible teaches us that little things which appear harmless but may carry pain, or little responsibilities deemed insignificant and left unattended to, are often the source of big problems. Likewise, little acts of obedience, small deeds carried out of love, encouraging words spoken at the right time, carry with them seeds of greatness!
I would love it if you will understand this message and apply it in everything that you do. It goes a long way in making life easier. This is why Tote Bags Ghana was established. Our aim is to provide ladies with affordable and yet stylish bags that are spacious enough to carry all of the needed things for the day, whether it's for shopping, going to the gym, school, work, or just running an errand, and still be very comfortable!

Beach Chronicles

Hello guys! Welcome back to my blog! I promised you guys last week that I was going to write about the beach essentials for the perfect beach day. Well, here it is!
Image is from Instagram:+Tote Bags Ghana

It was posted earlier on our Instagram account to give our followers an insight on the essentials needed to make your day at the beach a success and an enjoyable one! Well, let's get started!

1) Bikini and Cover up: You cannot get into the sea without this! It's one of the most important things for a successful beach day.

2) Water: Water is life!! We all know we're supposed to be drinking 8 glasses of water in a day, so imagine not taking water along on a sunny day to the beach, dreadful right?

3) Sunblock: Sunblock prevents the harmful UV rays of the sun from causing damage to our skin, as well as preventing sunburns, making it very necessary if you're going to spend your day at the beach.

4)Spacious beach  towel: After swimming, you will definitely need a towel that is big enough to dry your body.

5) Sunglasses: Aside the fact that sunglasses make you look more stylish, it prevents direct sunlight from disturbing your eyes.

6) Mobile phone: We all love to keep beautiful pictures because they remind us of wonderful days we experienced in the past. So taking your phone along will help you to record your beautiful memories, take lovely pictures you can post on any of your social media accounts, oh and you can even make or receive an important call. I could go on and on about why you NEED your mobile phone, but let me end here.

7) Snacks: Not many beach resorts offer food services, so if you do not want to go to the beach and get hungry later on, take snacks!

8) Lip balm: I'm pretty sure no girl will want to have her lips looking chapped while she's trying to stay pretty. Just carry along a good lip gloss or balm and you're good to go!

9)Magazine or a novel: This is only necessary if you're an avid reader like me. I love to just lay on my back and read while enjoying the breeze, so unless you're like me, please skip this one.

This is my recommended list for the nine beach essentials for a perfect day at the beach!
